Focusing on life:?

For the focusing on life challenge this week we were given the option to choose what we wanted to post about. Since several of you asked for pics of the after when I posted one of the old cars that we owned I decided to show some of the cars that we did fix. The fist car up is my 1966 Impala Super Sport. This car was a trophy winner. One of the top 100 in the only show we took it to.Isn't she beautiful?

This is a 1954 Chevy BelAir that We got in Arizona. I named the color that I painted it morning mist blue. When we took it to the car show to sell it a guy chased up from the entry gate to our parking space so he could buy it.

This van was my first full vehicle paint job. It belonged to a friend. Silver is one of the hardest colors to paint because the metal particles settle to the bottom of the paint gun and the paint gets streaks in it. Also most cars don't have such large flat panels which show imperfections. Some how I never seem to start with the easy stuff LOL. I am proud of it.  To view what the other participants posted go to Sally's blog http://thestudiosublime.com/

  2. Wow, you've done a fantastic job on those cars - I love the Morning Mist blue one (and that's a gorgeous name for the colour!).

    1. Thanx Diana. It's the only color I named. It was a mixture of paint we already had so it didn't come with a name.

  3. My husband will love this post.
My first car was a '66 Chevy - a Caprice though. That sucker was a TANK. My second car was an Impala - a '76. You would not have approved of the paint color (I didn't either)- pumpkin orange with a black interior. But I couldn't look a gift car in the mouth.

    I bought my third car.....

    1. We took the '66 to a car show in Madison Wisconsin to try to sell it . Two guys came and looked it over really well. They kept whispering back and forth. They moved on but a couple of cars down the row we could see them pointing and staring at our car. When they got to the next row the came back and asked if the car was a super sport. We said yes. One of them said but it has Caprice tail light. My husband said yes I like them better and I found new old stock ones at a swap meet. The men visibly relaxed and told us the installed taillights at the Janesville assembly plant and they were worried that they had made a mistake. P.S. Our '55 Belair was pumpkin orange with black fenders when we bought it.

    1. Thanx Paula. I am glad that I could bring you back to a good memory. I know that I was supposed to take new pics but this has been on my mind this week and I wanted to share about it. I did take the pics but that was several years ago.

    1. Thanx Annette. It does have it's rewards but it is a lot of dirty, smelly, physically demanding work.

    1. Thanx Janet. It's good to know that there are others out there who can appreciate the old cars. I have learned to do a lot of different things in my life. I have found that the more I can do myself the less often I have to get sloppy work from someone who doesn't care.

  8. I always thought I wanted one of those 50 chevies... I bought a porche to restore but it's slowly rotting on the driveway as my helpers always have something better to do! You did a wonderful job on those cars!

  15. I love old cars. Great photos and a wonderful story! My first car in high school was a Chevy Chevelle which I shared with my twin sister. She didn't like to drive, but I did. Many people wanted to drag race but I never drummed up the courage, plus I knew my dad would take the car away if I did.
