Focusing on life: Macro photo

The Focusing on Life prompt this week is macro photography.I knew exactly what I wanted to photograph when I read this prompt. This Christmas cactus was my Grandmothers. Even though she has been gone for almost 40 years my Mom still has her Christmas cactus and it still blooms. I spent a couple of days at Mom's house this week and a chose this wonderful memory to be the subject of my photo.

    1. I think that it is amazing too. That is why I chose to photograph it. Mom has more of a green thumb than I do.

    1. I didn't know that they live that long either. My sister has the original plant and Mom's was a start from hers shortly after Grandma passed away. Her Christmas cactus is still going and blooming too. It is huge.

  4. What a fantastic memory of your grandmother. My grandmother also had a green thumb which I clearly did not inherit. Her passion was African violets. The cactus flower you captured is gorgeous!

    1. I didn't inherit her green thumb either. I keep trying to grow African violets also but they keep dying on me also. My oldest sister got her growing skills. I got her creativity though, lucky me.

    1. Thanx Amy. I enjoy looking at her Christmas cactus. I have tried a few times to grow one without success. Her plant is in the room where I sleep at Mom's so I get to see it often.

    1. Thanx Betty. Everyone has different talents with plants. I don't have the best luck with plants either. Yes I think of Grandma every time I see a Christmas cactus bloom and it makes me smile. I liked your jasmine photo.

  19. Thanx Beth, I understand about plants not surviving where you live. There is a lot of stuff that won't survive here either. I love seeing a Christmas cactus in bloom. It always makes me think of Grandma.
