Good morning. I am participating in Sally Russick's "Focusing on Life: 52 pictures." http://thestudiosublime.com/ Sally's prompt this week was give yourself permission to take time off and do something for yourself. My first thought was to polish my fingernails. My husband & I restored & customized classic cars for more than 20 years so painted nails never lasted even 1 day. For many years that would have been a real treat. Since my boys are grown and on their own I now have time for me whenever I want. What pleases me best is making jewelry so that is what I posted a pic of. My word this year is achieve so practicing my art is the best way to achieve my goals. Last week Bill Zhang of www.znetshows.com contacted me about designing pieces with their sea glass. If any of my pieces are chosen they will be displayed at the Tucson bead show and I will be credited. They will also appear on their website. I am jumping up and down happy. This is the first piece I designed for them. I hope they like it.
Good luck with the 'sea glass' project! I'm so happy for you :)
ReplyDeleteThanx Alicia. I'm really excited about this chance.
DeleteI saw your picture and immediatly thought of Key West! Beautiful! Best of luck to you!!
ReplyDeleteThanx Patti. I started out to put the ceramic pendant with some of the yellow sea glass but, it just didn't look good so I tried the orange and I liked it.
DeleteFantastic! I hope they pick one of your designs :)
ReplyDeleteThanx, I hope they do too. I just finished the second design.
DeleteDoing what you want to do. That's "me time."
ReplyDeleteI agree. My life was not like this for very long so I have been indulging myself lots lately. I spent my Christmas money from Mom on some new jewelry tools. I see some new jewelry designs coming soon.
DeleteThat is a lovely necklace. I am sure they will like it. It is awesome that you can spend time on what you love. Good lick in achieving your goals this year.
ReplyDeleteThanx Tanya, I,m glad you like it. I'm sure trying to achieve.I've never had a focus word before but I'm excited about this year.
Deletei LOVE the colour combo, and i love anything with sea glass :)
ReplyDeletewhat a great way to spend 'me' time!
have a wonderful week!
[no 13 this week]
Thanx Claire, I just played with my beads until I got something I liked. Orange & yellow are my 2 least favorite colors but I'm doing ok with them. I have 4 more designs in progress.
DeleteLove the orange in your piece! Whatever it is that makes us happy to do, it's great that we find the time to do it and you did!! :-)
ReplyDelete(I'm #40 this week)
Thanx It did please me to make this necklace.
DeleteIsn't if funny how sometimes when we work with colors we really don't like, something beautiful always comes out???? I love the sea glass and your design. Good luck and looking forward to more pics of your other pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanx Vera, I just finished #3and I will be posting the rest this week. Thursday is the deadline.
DeleteWhat an incredible opportunity and I hope they choose one of your designs. That is a beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteThanx Annette, At first I though their e-mail might be a scam but I checked it out & I am so thrilled.
Deletewow that is so exciting! I love seaglass and have purchased some from them at beadfest but haven't had a chance to make anything with it yet. Good luck and keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteThanx Laura, They said that they found me from joining Lori Anderson's Bead Soup Blog Hop.
DeleteHow exciting!!! YAY for you : D
ReplyDeleteThanx Patty, I posted my pay it forward and no one replied so I was kind of discouraged about blogging and then this happened. I am thrilled.
DeleteYour necklace is a beautiful result of "me time" well spent!
ReplyDeleteThanx Lola. I will post the rest of what I make this week.
DeleteYour necklace is gorgeous!!!! I love the summery colors. I once had a job where I filed a lot and also sorted the mail. I never was able to keep my nails looking nice so I quit using polish and rarely use it now. It seems like a lot of trouble to go through with a base coat, dry, polish, dry, top coat, dry.......
ReplyDeleteThanx Alica, I just decided that wanting painted nails was the old me & it didn't really fit who I am now.
DeleteI never paint my fingernails either...beautiful necklace! Have a great week! Suzette
ReplyDeleteThanx Suzette, I'm glad that you like it.
DeleteHow thrilling for you. Seaglass is one of my favorite thing, I have a hard time letting go of any even to make a necklace.
ReplyDeleteThanx Mary, I haven't work with sea glass before but it is interesting.
DeleteCongratulations on being asked to submit designs! I met them at the Bead & Button show and I have hanks of their sea glass just waiting for inspiration to strike! I hope that you and some other beady friends have your pieces selected! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteThanx Erin, I have had a few people comment on their sea glass. I'm thrilled that they found me.
DeleteGood luck to you. The colors are soooo pretty! I too thought about painting my toe nails. Maybe some other time hee hee-I'd much rather make stuff too:)
ReplyDeleteThanx, I'm proud of what I made. I agree I would rather make jewelry than paint my nails so that is what I did.
DeleteCongrats on being asked to submit pieces. I love the color combination of the necklace you created during some 'you" time. I think we all could use a little more time to ourselves!
ReplyDeleteThanx Kathleen. I had fun making it.
DeleteCreating jewelry is my favorite thing to do too. The selling part is not so much. So I can quite relate why you would dedicate it to "your free time" Doing your nails make the out side of you look prettier, creating art beautifies your spirit and your inside , I guess. Your necklace is beautiful I hope it be chosen. Also, thank you so much for visiting my blog. see you again. Dita.
ReplyDeleteThanx Dita. Yes the nail polish was the old me. I agree that creating jewelry feeds my spirit. I hope i do well also.
DeleteMaking jewelry is a wonderful way to take time for yourself. And congratulations on being asked to design some pieces for Znet.
ReplyDeleteThanx Cynthia I was flabbergasted that they found me. It has been a really fun challenge.
DeleteBecky, it's great that you were able to relax and get some jewelry made at the same time. I think I over-think my designs sometimes instead of relaxing and just letting them flow.
ReplyDeleteThere's just something so sublime about turquoise and orange together and your necklace is the perfect example of how well they work.
Thanx Hope, I'm glad that you like it. I started out to put the yellow with the turquoise but it just didn't pop so I played with the beads and this necklace came out of it.
