Aged beauty was our prompt this week from Sally at http://thestudiosublime.com/ for the year log challenge of focusing on life. This weeks prompt fits me well. I have been helping my husband restore classic cars for more years than I care to admit to. I have sandblasted, painted, sewn interiors, and turned wrenches on scores of aged beauties. The photo that I am presenting today is from several years ago. The car in the pic is a 1938 Chevy coupe. We had just brought it home and I snapped this pic before it was unloaded from the trailer. Some people see cars in a field and think that they are just junk. I see beauty, potential, and holding onto a piece of history. Thanx to everyone who visits and leaves comments. I appreciate hearing from you.

  1. WOW what a beauty! look at that chrome grill! My office window actually looks out onto the Chrysler building and I've noticed all the hood ornaments on the building - it is so cool!

    1. Thanx Cynthia. Cars today don't have chrome because it is so expensive to get rid of the used chemicals used in the process of chroming. They are no longer unique. You can hardly tell one model from another now.

  4. I'd love to see a "before and after" :-)

This model looks like a gangsta car. Or something Humphrey Bogart would drive...

    1. Hi Deb, We didn't end up restoring that car. A friend begged for and bought it so I don't have before and after for that car. It is a gangster era car.

    1. Did you know that the liberty bell almost got sold for scrap metal? I think that preserving history is important. Old cars are part of our heritage. I am proud to say that I help preserve a small piece of it.

  7. Hi Becky,
I agree with you about seeing beauty and potential in an old vehicle I bet this one is beautiful now or soon will be.

  8. Hi Therese. I know vehicles way more intimately than most people do. My '66 Chevy Impala was one of the top 100 cars at the last back to the 60's car show in Minnesota. It was many years ago But I am still proud of it.
