Focusing on life:black and white me

The focusing on life prompt this week was to take a self portrait and turn it to black and white. This is the first time I have ever taken a photo of myself. I am very camera shy and when the camera comes out I usually slide into the corner somewhere. I did follow Sally instructions to make the photo black and white. I chose to take the photo in my bedroom. Above the head of my bed I have a wall of pictures of women. Most are in 1800's outfits. The picture nearest to my head is my husbands Grandmother. 1. Love how you set the photo up in front of your pictures, which look amazing. Would love to hear more about them in a future post! The expression on your face says, "Sally, I dare you to do this again!" :-)

    1. My husband say "quit making your picture face" whenever the camera comes out. So I was nervous about smiling. I hope Sally doesn't do this again.

    1. Thanx Mary. I never thought of sharing my wall of women. It is just part of my everyday life. I studied 1800's costume for several years so the pictures have meaning to me.

  10. My husband kept telling me my smile looked forced and unhappy, so I left it out! I think it was brave of all of us to take a selfie this week. I wonder how the women on your wall felt about having their photo taken.

    1. My husband says quit making your picture face so I didn't try to smile for my selfie. I think it came out better than if I had tried to smile. I never thought about my women wanting their picture taken or not.

  12. Miss Becky, I like the idea of the pictures of ancestors in the background. Because we are part of that story that they started! And you are beautiful and should remember that only you can bring your light to the world! Enjoy the day! Erin

  21. We struggle through it don't we! I love that your are amongst the other women, "brave enough" to face the camera. At least with digital and a self-portrait you also get the joy of deleting the ones that you wonder what the heck happened...the ladies behind you had to trust :)
