Hi, I'm glad that you joined me today. It is the reveal of Jeannie Dukic's Do Over challenge. If you don't know what that is  here is how it works. Jeannie sent me a necklace that she made at the beginning of her jewelry career. I am to make something new from it. The top pic shows the necklace that I was sent. My first reaction was wow this needs some color to perk up the grey. I wanted to keep the grey links the way Jeannie made them. I simply added white faceted round glass bead with aqua discs links. I moved the chain to the center as a focal. I added round aqua glass beads, round snow quarts beads, and round dark grey pearls to the ends of the chain. The chain pieces are separated by the shell links. I used all of the Jeannie necklace except two shell links and some of the chain. I took a long necklace and turned it into a two strand. there are two 5mm jump rings between each link. The ends of the strands join a silver link from Cindy Wimmer's new book "The Missing Link". I made the clasp also.  I made a Russian spiral bracelet to go with my new necklace. I hope you like it. Please check out what the other participants made at http://site.jkdjewelry.com/blog/

  1. The white glass beads really perk it up and the chain dangles add so much interest. I admire anyone that can bead weave. The bracelet is outstanding.

  2. Thanx Jeannie. I feel honored to be part of your challenge. It was so much fun. The bracelet started out to be part of the necklace but plans changed so it became a bracelet.

  3. Everything's better with a little blue in it, right? I'm with Jeannie, I can't imagine having the patience to do beadweaving. I tried years ago but my patience hasn't increased with age, sadly. And I totally like your choice to make a shorter, two stranded necklace. That will be a lot more wearable. I'm sure you'll enjoy wearing this set often, it will go with so many things, too.

    1. Everything is better with blue in it I thought the same thing when I looked at your piece.I love beadweaving. Bead embroidery is my favorite thing to do. I keep trying to learn new things with each piece I design. This is my first Russian spiral. It was not as hard as I thought it would be.

  4. Very nice- AND you tackled a project from Cindy's book! I'm impressed. I've looked through it but haven't attempted a link yet; that's next. The Russian spiral is lovely- something on the "want to learn" list. Christie

    1. Thanx Christie. I can tell that Cindy's book will become a go to reference. This is my first Russian spiral. I found it easier than I thought it would be.

  5. Becky, your new nwcklace is very pretty, so much more fresh and eyecatching than the original one. And the bracelet complements it well.
I've just remembered that somewhere I still have an unfinished russian spiral necklace from the last A time to stitch challenge ... and maybe it's time to finish it - thanks for the reminder;-)

    1. Thanx Donetta. Actually Russian spiral is really easy. I used 3 sets of beads for the tube. Each set has 4 beads. You only have to stitch in every 4th bead so it works up fast. You don't even have to step up just keep stitching until it is the length you want.

    1. Thanx Vera, I like the color combo too. I like blue a lot and I have found that it complements most other colors even yellow, so it is kind of a go to color for me. The bracelet started as a neckstrap for the necklace, but it overpowered the grey links so I made it into a bracelet.
