Today is the day for the Bead Hoarders Blog Hop. The top pic is a close up of my focal bead. It was made by lampwork artist Jeff Barber. He is a local lampworker who makes the most amazing beads. He teaches and exhibits at national shows. It is a badge of honor is my bead group to own Jeff's beads. This is the first Jeff Barber bead I bought. I have been hoarding it for several years. When Lori Anderson announced this blog hop I know what bead I would be using right away. Pink and green is a favorite color combination for me. I made three spiral rope sections for the necklace. The pink  swirled discs accent beads are by another lampworker who's work I admire, Tanya McGuire. The pearls are from znetshows.com
They were leftover from my last challenge. I used corrugated doublesided gold caps to finish the spirals and corrugated end caps by the 14 karat gold twisted toggle clasp. The bail is a simple herringbone strip so as to not detract from the beauty of the focal. The pink fringe ends with green glass leaves. I am pleased with how this necklace turned out and I am sure I will wear it often. Please take the time to see what the other artists made at http://www.prettythingsblog.com/

  1. That is beautiful. The rope you did compliments the gorgeous focal perfectly.

  2. Thanx Kim. I like spiral ropes. It seemed to fit this bead well. Stringing the rope when I was done was tougher than I expected. I had it altogether and discovered I had put one section on upside down so I had to restring it.

  4. Wow, so pretty! Looks like a lot of time went into this design. How long does something like that take? Have a nice weekend!

  5. Thanx Roxanne. It took about 3 days. Spiral ropes are easier than they look. There is a row of core beads then you put loops around the core. I like making spiral ropes. The look can be varied by the choices if beads used and the number of loops in each round.

  12. I love the colors, and the tassel is a great addition -- BIG fan of tassels and they really seem to finish out large beads or ones of that shape, don't you think?

Thank you so much for participating!!!

    1. Thanx Lori. I am a pink girl too. I agree that tassels seem to finish a piece and add movement too. It was your hop that finally got me to use this great bead. I wore it yesterday and even the girl in the gas station commented on it. I feel honored to participate in your great hops. They have added so much pleasure to my life.

I guess that is why I bought this bead and hoarded it for so long. I wanted to do it justice and it took me a while to decide how I wanted it to look. It took Lori's urging to help me decide.
