Focusing on life week 29 has us looking up. Sally at http://thestudiosublime.com/ prompted up with looking up. This is my bedroom lampshade.I think it is so beautiful. I would call it art deco but I am not sure that is correct. From the moment I saw it I thought it would make a beautiful pin out of metal clay with a crystal at the center. Last week I ordered some sheet silver clay and I am finally going to try and make it happen.
First .... you are so brave to take a picture of your ceiling! Shel and I were just commenting on not wanting to capture the cobwebs we have - ha! But that is one gorgeous shade ... I love the old ones like this. I think I would call it Art Deco based on the geometric design and the pink color (one of the Moxie colorways)
ReplyDeleteThanx Cynthia. I did have to take the lampshade down and wash it before the pic. My corners have cobwebs too.
Deleteit certainly looks very 1920s/30s... very stylish!!
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend :)
Thanx Claire. I enjoy looking at my pink lampshade almost every night.
DeleteVery cool, and nice that you can look up at something beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThanx Sandi I have spent many hours looking at my lampshade. I love it's design.
DeleteOh my - that is great. When I first saw the photo, I had no idea what it was but you are so clever. It is beautiful. You will have to come back and post your silver clay when it is done.
ReplyDeleteThanx Paula. I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I just got access to a kiln so it's going to happen soon. I will post it even if it isn't so great.
DeleteSame colour as my two lamps but a totally different design.. yours is much more geometric... Looks like art deco to me! :)
ReplyDeleteThanx Lynn I have been fascinated by my lampshade for a long time. I have a small collection of pink glass on my dresser. Old things really had style that a lot of modern stuff is missing.
DeleteVery cool! Yes, I think your 'art deco' description is correct - I'd call it that anyway! :-) Reminds me of one that my Aunt had in her house!
ReplyDeleteThanx Shel. I do take the time to look up at it often.
DeleteI like it too and look forward to seeing your pin interpretation!
ReplyDeleteThanx Debi. I have not done metal clay so I'm probably attempting something difficult right from the start. I guess that is how I work, I never did want to do the simple projects. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely. My grandmother had one like that. I'm in the cobweb club too - with 18' ceilings there isn't much I can do about them
ReplyDeleteThanx Patty. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with cobwebs.
DeleteLike Cynthia remarked: you're brave (I join her and Shel in not wanting to show anybody the darling spiders :) ). That being said: you have a gorgeous shade there! Can't wait to see the pin when you make it - please share :)
ReplyDeleteThanx Alicia. I am excited to try metal clay. I hope it comes out well. It's something I have wanted to do for a long time.
DeleteGreat light fixture. Hope you post pictures of your pin that you are going to make that is inspired by this fixture.
ReplyDeleteThanx Mary I do plan on posting what I make.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! It reminds me of the one my grandmother had in her dining room.
ReplyDeleteThanx Alice. Glad I could bring back a memory of your Grandmother for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shade! I love the soft pink color! You are brave to attempt metal clay. I have wanted to but not happening yet. I hope it works out for you.
ReplyDeleteThanx Katherine. I have been wanting to try metal clay for a while and no I have a chance so I am going for it.
DeleteI look forward to seeing your metal clay piece! If you need help capturing a mold first - let me know.
ReplyDeleteThanx Janet. I bought the sheet clay and I think I can fold it to form the piece. I appreciate the offer of help. If my method doesn't work I may ask you.
DeleteLovely lines in that light fixture. I think it would make a gorgeous silver piece. Please do share when you have created that.

DeleteThat is a lovely light fixture. Maybe Sally should have named this 'Focus on Life- 52 Photos and a Cleaner House'- I've seen a lot of cobweb stories this week- Ha, ha!
ReplyDeleteThanx Your reply made me laugh. I did have to clean the fixture before I took pics.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was an umbrella or maybe a button.
ReplyDeleteThanx Adrienne. I thought of clouds for my pic but I wanted something unique to me so I chose my lampshade.
DeleteLove the design of that fixture. Seem to remember on in my past!
ReplyDeleteThanx Beti. I love the design on my lampshade too.

ReplyDeleteThanx Courtney. I love my shade too. I have one project to finish and then I am going to play with the metal clay.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think you're right, it's Art Deco...what a great piece to try out in silver clay, can't wait to see the result.
ReplyDeleteThanx Lori, I am proud of my Art deco shade. I will post my results.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful fixture, Becky. I love anything vintage and it sure looks like it is from another era.
ReplyDeleteThanx Cindy. I am proud if my lampshade. I do believe that it is vintage not a reproduction.
ReplyDeleteBecky, I don't think my original comment went through.
ReplyDeleteYour pic made me think of a vintage button! Beautiful shot!
Thanx Sally. I have looked at my lampshade many times over the years and I still am fascinated by it. It would make a great button too.
